What makes a great corporate video?

As a marketing agency we are producing several videos for our clients to bring their brands to life. Video is predicted to become the key marketing medium in the next few years and we wanted to share a few our top tips for creating great video. With Youtube and Vine seeing huge amounts of users we want to make sure our clients are portraying their brands in the very best way. We have put down our 6 keys to creating a great video.

Have a strong concept

Devote time into brainstorming and looking at different approaches to the standard approaches. As a marketing agency we like to create concepts which will lead to us delivering a campaign and theme. The concept is key, the more detailed you can make your storyboards and spending time to role play scenarios the better. Make sure your target audience will respond to your concept by testing it on your friends/colleagues and make sure that it can be delivered without breaking the bank. For things like drones licences need to be considered which are often expensive in London.

The quality of the footage and editing

This is very important, the quality of cameras is now of a very high standard and we make sure our videos are of the highest quality as this helps with audience engagement. A smooth flow is key to creating stories and taking audiences on a brand journey.

Actors and scripts

The actors and scripts are a key factor, this can be time consuming to find the right fit but this is worth getting right to make sure the concept of the video comes through clearly.

Some actors will need exclusivity and this all needs to be considered when costing the project.

A great location

This doesn’t have to be expensive, be creative, think about different ways to get your message out there. International travel and teams are expensive to organise and we always look for the cost effective way to bring our clients to life. With the enhancements in video and camera quality new angles and views can be delivered to make even the most basic environments come to life.

Music and humour

We have grouped these two together as they are often linked and set the mood of the video. Time to select and consider these are also key to bring concepts to life. We often like a tone of humour to make things a little easier to convey but clearly it depends on our client briefs. Be aware of the licences and permissions on soundtracks and background music.

Infographics

Videos can often be a little complex, we like to help them along with the use of simple infographics to bring the story and messaging across in a quick and efficient way. These are icons which we map onto the video to clarify meanings and propositions, things like globes and maps are often examples of this.
